The deadline for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is rapidly approaching. The following is the latest update on BGRS’s commitment to privacy and data security.

The GDPR will go into effect on May 25, 2018, replacing the 1995 Data Protection Directive, which has governed the member nations of the EU and EEA (European Economic Area) to date. BGRS recently shared a full summary of GDPR and our compliance with the pending regulations.

One key element under the GDPR is the requirement to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to oversee the organization’s data protection compliance. BGRS is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Brown as BGRS’s DPO effective May 9, 2018.

Jason is located in the United Kingdom and responsible for conducting periodic audits of data protection efforts, interfacing with EU regulatory authorities and working with data subjects who raise concerns or requests for information.

Jason joins BGRS with over 20 years’ experience of data privacy and wider regulatory compliance within EMEA, Asia and the U.S. Previously, he has specialized in advising and delivering large-scale privacy and other related compliance programs within the National Health Service (NHS) in the U.K., as well as global telecommunications, finance, banking and technologies industries.
