BGRS Announces a Global Partnership with Lions Club International
April 25, 2022
BGRS partners with the Lions Club International Foundation as part of our Global Giving program, a commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work.
At BGRS, we are dedicated to a culture of belonging where employees are empowered to reach their full potential and encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work. As part of our overarching focus on environmental and social responsibility, we believe it’s critically important to have a formal structure in place for employees to give back.
We formed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program workgroup in 2021 and through an employee survey, identified causes that resonated most with our teams around the globe. From there, we identified Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), an international charity that aligns with our collective values, as a partner with the capacity to support causes we care about at a global, regional, and local level.
The U.N. outlines 17 sustainable development goals as a shared blueprint for prosperity and peace. When we sought to identify a partner for our CSR program, these goals were at the center of our decision.
Our partnership with LCIF enables us to have a measurable impact where we live and work through diverse initiatives that cater to BGRS’s diverse global population. We understand that our regions have diverse approaches to engaging in CSR work and with LCIF, we can celebrate and build on that diversity with specialized, effective projects and initiatives across the globe.
As Catherine Tshabalala, BGRS’s Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion & Corporate Social Responsibility, states, “It was important for us to find a partner who could enable our colleagues around the globe to impact their local communities in a meaningful way. LCIF’s international footprint of 1.4 million members and 47,000 clubs around the world will make that goal possible.”
BGRS employees and LCIF volunteers will be working together through locally tailored humanitarian service efforts to engage and strengthen communities, improve health and well-being, and support those in need.
The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine has impacted BGRS’s colleagues, our clients and their employees, and our supplier partners. Through our work with LCIF, our employees can contribute to relief efforts in Ukraine that directly support the Ukrainian refugees, address critical needs of people who remain in-country, and enable Lions to purchase and distribute immediate relief items. All proceeds go directly to LCIF in Ukraine.
We recognize that, for many BGRS employees, a gift of time is something they want to consider. All full-time and part-time BGRS employees receive one full day of paid time off per calendar year for eligible volunteer activities. Recently, in light of the evolving crisis in Ukraine, some employees from our office in Poland utilized their volunteer benefit to help refugees and others affected in the region.
In the face of increasing volatility, we feel fortunate to have a partner like LCIF who has helped us ensure that employees around the world can give back to a greater good, working together regardless of time zones, oceans, and languages.
