In recent years, several pressing agenda items have made their way to the top of global mobility leaders’ already considerable “to-do” lists. Chief among them is aligning Global Mobility more closely with Talent Development. Modern-day industry professionals have been searching for meaningful ways to transform Global Mobility from a function that solely administers policy and manages logistics into a holistic environment that encompasses and embraces Talent Development strategy.
The sudden realm of ambiguity and uncertainty our industry found itself in relative to policy, compliance, travel, and program development only exacerbated that need for collaboration between Mobility and Talent Development.
Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated this effort, leaving many in the mobility industry scrambling as the worldwide workforce changed its course almost overnight. The rushed implementation of remote work constructs, along with emerging concepts such as work from anywhere, virtual mobility, and virtual assignments, has created both exciting new possibilities for corporate America and has introduced a myriad of new hurdles to overcome. The sudden realm of ambiguity and uncertainty our industry found itself in relative to policy, compliance, travel, and program development only exacerbated that need for collaboration between Mobility and Talent Development.
Fortunately, BGRS was well-positioned in the area of talent development solutions prior to last year’s global pandemic. We had begun to view this nascent evolution as an opportunity for our company to expand its value proposition even further. We reconfigured and rebranded our Talent Mobility Consulting team to more formally adopt the services associated with full Talent Development & Deployment. What has emerged is a diverse group of subject matter experts with rich backgrounds in organizational design, human resources, employee mobility, intercultural and language studies, and global relations, who can connect, collaborate, and advise client partners on today’s needs and tomorrow’s opportunities.
BGRS’s newly minted Mobility Experience Solutions department is comprised of three main advisory functions, including Talent Development, Consulting Services, and Thought Leadership. We liken each of these main functions as a home for a family of specialized support services. Specifically, Talent Development houses Global Competency Development; Intercultural and Language Training; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI); and Human Resources and Talent Solutions. Likewise, Consulting Services houses Policy Consultation, Travel Solutions, and Strategic Customer Experience Projects. And lastly, the Thought Leadership function is home to Research, Industry Benchmarking, Trend Information, and White Papers.
The goal of the Mobility Experience Solutions team is to deliver comprehensive solutions through a uniquely tailored, highly collaborative approach to ensure total alignment with our clients’ talent, technology, and business objectives.
The goal of the Mobility Experience Solutions team is to deliver comprehensive solutions through a uniquely tailored, highly collaborative approach to ensure total alignment with our clients’ talent, technology, and business objectives. This group’s structure is based on the belief that consulting services should not be siloed, but rather integrated. This rather novel advisory services approach is intended to operate synergistically across all three areas. Simply put, we view Employee Mobility as a function of a healthy talent development strategy. The Mobility Experience Solutions team is grounded in this philosophy and works collaboratively to offer our clients a more thoughtful and strategic approach to realizing and rewarding human capital.
As we witnessed in 2020, we are living and working in a new era. Changing times certainly bring many new challenges but, along with them, opportunities to transition, transform, and evolve. Each of us at BGRS is committed to supporting our clients and their mobile employees during these unprecedented times and adhering to our company’s collective cause, which is guiding mobility strategy and supporting our clients’ most important asset – their people. Now and always, BGRS can be counted on to be by your side, looking ahead®.
