Executive Perspectives: Company Values Aligning Customer and Employee Experience

Nancy is responsible for BGRS’s people and culture strategies. This involves the leadership of the Human Resources and Learning and Development functions. Nancy has more than 20 years experience in leading and collaborating with complex global teams, in matrixed organizations. She brings a broad and diverse experience across a vast array of talent and culture practices including talent management, organizational development, culture transformation, total rewards, and mergers and acquisitions. Nancy leads all people initiatives designed to transform the BGRS employee and customer experience.
When we designed BGRS’s Vision 2020 over five years ago, we knew we needed a vision robust enough to guide the organization through several years and flexible enough to support the changing world of work led by advances in rapid digitization and a dynamic geopolitical and business landscape. Little did we know, one of the catalysts for the next evolution of our corporate values would be a new approach to employee deployment initiated by a global pandemic.
The revised corporate values are a product of employees talking about how they view the culture today, as well as what they see as key focus areas in the future.
Unveiling new values is timely for BGRS on several levels. Our parent company, Relo Group, retains a singular strategy and investment in relocation for the long-term, aligned with their vision of becoming the leading global mobility provider in the world. BGRS has been radically transforming our customer experience to meet the needs of a dramatically changing mobile workforce. And finally, over the last four years our global footprint grew, exponentially increasing employee diversity and providing another opportunity to re-assess who we are.
Culture is company-wide and inclusive, so it was critical for BGRS’s Human Resources team to bring together diverse groups of employees across the company to help define the values. This holistic approach reflects the way we collaboratively partner with our clients. The way we partner internally for key initiatives is no different. Throughout 2020, BGRS’s Human Resources function facilitated a series of focus groups with employees and people managers around the world. The revised corporate values are a product of employees talking about how they view the culture today, as well as what they see as key focus areas in the future. BGRS’s senior leadership team was closely involved in the process every step of the way, providing guidance and support in our effort to formally redefine corporate values.
One of the most rewarding outcomes was to find that regardless of the division, geography, or employee level, there was a complete alignment to our company’s vision and consistency of employee feedback around the values that define our culture.
In our client relationships, we lead with honesty to build trust and use our expertise to constructively challenge the client to better support their employee mobility programs and deliver value. We brought equal amounts of effort and honesty to ensuring our new values truly reflect who we are as an organization. BGRS’s Human Resources team is currently focused on bringing these new values to life. We are adjusting our long-standing values award program, which publicly rewards employees nominated by their colleagues for truly embodying BGRS’s corporate values. We are engaging people managers around the world to ensure they understand them and are able to lead with these values front of mind. We are working with hiring managers to guide them in their hiring decisions and to enable them to communicate these values to candidates.
